CHILDREN'S MINISTRY AT OUR SAVIOR LUTHERAN CHURCH
VISION STATEMENT: To give the littlest saints the knowledge of God and His word so that they will be able to fulfill the Great Commission.
MISSION STATEMENT: Learning and Serving.
SUNDAY MORNING MINISTRIES
Sunday Morning Children's Educational Program - Kingdom Quest
Does your child enjoy attending Vacation Bible School? Well, how about having them attend VBS
year round? Kingdom Quest is just the thing for you and your child.
Children today learn best by using everyday objects to illustrate concepts. Kingdom Quest
replaces yesterday's model of paper and pencil activities where one teacher did all the teaching.
The children gather into large groups for creative Bible presentations. Then they break into
small groups to apply the lesson and discuss how Jesus works in their lives.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT KINGDOM QUEST:
"My children can't wait for Sundays to go to Kingdom Quest." - Tina Addo, a parent whose
children attend Kingdom Quest.
"Kingdom Quest doesn't only teach the children about their faith but it allows them to discover how
to apply it to their daily lives." - Helen Harrington, Kingdom Quest Guide.
Marty Morphosis (a Kingdom Quest personality) visited our 5th and 6th grades one morning to talk about
how God can transform us. "I got to take home the broken heart used to illustrate how God has the power
to soften our hearts. Now the heart hangs on my bedroom wall and reminds me of no matter how hard our hearts
are that Jesus can soften our hearts to make a clean new one." - Tekla Wilson, 6th grade.
Kingdom Quest Special Events
Kickoff occurs the last Sunday in August at 9:30am
Annual Year-End Celebration occurs on the last week of the regular school year
Service Project
Through their Sunday offerings along with those of the adults, the children take the lead
in a service project. The donations collected are given to an organization that provides
for the basic needs of people they serve. A new service project is selected each year and
runs from August through June.

of the Passover meal when Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with His disciples when He instituted the sacrament
of Holy Communion.
Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt: occurs on the Saturday before Easter Sunday.
SUMMER MINISTRIES
Vacation Bible School: is held for one week during the summer from 9am to Noon.
How you can serve our children?
KINGDOM QUEST: begins to equip our littlest saints at the age of 2, with the knowledge of, and the love for,
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You can become a guide, a presenter, actor, puppeteer and/or a coordinator.
Guides teach children, establish relationships with the children and help them to apply the day's lesson to their
daily lives. Every attempt is made to have two adults in each classroom at all times. Substitute guides are available
if you are unable to lead your class for the week. Large Group Presenter, actors, and puppeteers, help to teach
the children the Bible event in an exciting and creative way. Supply Coordinators play a vital behind the scene
role. These people are the ones to put the supplies that are needed for that week's lesson in bins for the Guides
and Large Group Presenters, actors, and puppeteers.
MUSICAL AND NON-MUSICAL: assistants needed for choirs year-round and for the children's Advent/Christmas
drama/musical.
SPECIAL EVENT COORDINATORS: help organize and promote special educational experiences for the students outside the
classroom.
TEACHERS/FACILITATORS: needed for Wednesday night ministries
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: needs teachers, assistants, actors, music leaders, technical assistance and nursery
volunteers as well as volunteers for other activities for one week during the summer.
