Missions Update: Haiti – Village of Hope

Those who were interested and able to make it to a zoom meeting on 5/11, met to discuss the current our status of Village of Hope in Haiti. Due to many issues we have been unable to partake in a mission trip to VOH in Haiti, so in this meeting we talked about what is currently going on in Haiti, what we can do now to serve, and what our plans are for the next mission trip – most likely…

May Sounds

Here is your May Sounds! It’s pollen season! (I’m sure you don’t need reminding since you may have noticed by now the thick yellow/green coating on the cars outside.) Well my friends, this means Spring is in full effect; and while the pollen doesn’t serve those who have bad allergies, boy is it a sign that our days ahead will be warmer, brighter, more green, and filled with color from all the beautiful plants in bloom. We are now a year into this pandemic, and I am sure you don’t need the reminder, but it was just the “other day” I came here to be interviewed… meaning last March. No way did we think this would last a year; masks and social distancing, and surely our plans would resume to “normal” quickly. Well, once again, we are reminded we are not in control, and here…

The current bricks will be cleaned, the path will be enhanced and leveled, the bricks will be re-laid and it will be beautiful!  Since the Walk is only partially complete now, the plan is for the remainder of the path to be filled with plain bricks…

Winter Shelter 2020

As you might guess, due to the Corona virus, Laurel Winter Shelter is not operating as normal this year. There is no way to safely run the shelter in individual congregations. Under a county supported program with CCSI, our homeless friends are being housed at a hotel in Beltsville.
