Do you love to read books? We have a book club that meets every second Saturday of the month from 10 – 11:30 am in the prayer room at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
The Our Savior Lutheran Church Book Club celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year! It was started in 1996; Carol Ann Snyder, Nancy Olsen, Laima Kuring, Jaime Haversack, and Rhoda Williamson were among the original members and it is still going strong.
The Book Club affords an opportunity for book lovers to meet at church in an informal setting to have fellowship and fun while discussing a monthly book selection. Most of the books are literary fiction, with an occasional nonfiction choice.
Join us this September as we share our thoughts about The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson, a thoroughly researched account of the Great Migration of Black people from the U.S. Deep South to the West and North from 1920 to 1970.
The October selection is I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith, followed by Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate in November. In December we have a Christmas luncheon at a member’s home and watch a movie based on a book we have read.
We always welcome new members! Please contact Cynthia Manock or the church office at 301-776-7670.
