The Southeastern district will hold its second Disaster Response Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on January 27-29, 2022. The conference will be held at the Ocean Reef Resort. The conference provides opportunities for participants to gain skills so that they may be better prepared to handle a disaster that strikes them personally and be better prepared to respond in times of Disaster. Workshops on Basic Lutheran Emergency Response Training, Chain Saw operations, wallboard installation, and taping/mudding and mucking out homes will be offered. On Saturday, participants who want to get experience using chain saws will be gathered at Holy Lamb Lutheran Church for additional training. In addition, classes in first aid trauma response, learning to drive, and using the disaster response tractor will be offered.
Presenters will include leaders from the LCMS National Disaster Response Office as well as leaders in disaster response throughout the synod.
Registration and additional information will be posted on the SED Website by the end of November. Until that occurs, if you desire more information, please contact Dave McGuffey at DisasterResponse@oslclaurel.org.
