Mission 2026

February 9-19

2026 Mission Reports:

  • DAY 1: Monday, February 9 – Depart from the USA for Liberia
    • Our team was prayed for during worship on Sunday and left this afternoon with supplies for VBS, donations, and the love of Jesus. Prayers requested for safe travels, good health and patience!
  • DAY 2: Tuesday, February 10 – Arrive in Monrovia, Liberia
    • We’ve arrived safely and are at the Mission House in Monrovia! Great reunion with family!❤️
    • Prayers as we take the truck in to the shop (yes – the fun begins already!)
    • Prayers for Donna as she pulled her hip in a strange way as we were shuffling luggage and is very uncomfortable. We’re going to rest and do some stretches and pray she feels better in the morning.🙏🏼
  • DAY 3: Wednesday, February 11 – Spend the day at the Mission House in Monrovia organizing VBS materials and other supplies to be taken to Flahn Town

This morning (Wednesday) we had devotions & breakfast and then unloading the barrels…It was a “barrels of fun!” Literally!!!!! We found Jesus in the barrel! He’s ready for VBS!

Rewarding ourselves with some family fun with things we found in the barrels! Kids from the neighborhood came by and joined us too! Friends came to visit on the porch with Pastor Flahn & we made new friends! (Oh, btw…turns out everything was CLOSED today due to a holiday – so no trip to get wifi, supplies, or yes…the car to the mechanic!!!) So, we will have a VERY tight morning tomorrow (Thursday) and then off to Flahn Town for VBS!!!!!
Donna is moving & stretching! Still pain – but she is feeling the healing power from all your prayers! Keep lifting them up! God is Good! The holiday was a blessing to let us take our time to prep.

Look! Praise God! Donna was able to go for a peaceful walk around the house! She saw ducks!!!!

Lunch of rice and potato grain stew with fish.

Barrels unpacked! Now the kids help us pack for Flahn Town VBS and delivering school supplies donated by OSLC last year that finally got to come out of the barrel!
Donna and princess and other friends who came by helped make 100+ goody bags to distribute to the kids at Flahn Town after VBS. They also assembled cross key chains for our visit to the Recovery Ministry Center next week.
If you came by the house…you were put to work! A good time by all in fellowship & ministry today! Praise God!
Prayers for a successful and swift morning tomorrow so we can make it to Flahn Town!
Prayers for continued healing for Donna.
Prayers for repairs to the vehicle tomorrow & a successful & uneventful journey to Flahn Town.
Prayers for Day 1 of VBS – God’s Creation, God Created Me, & John 3:16.

  • DAY 4: Thursday, February 12 – Started out great and early at a coffee stop in Monrovia on the way to Wi-fi and errands from yesterday.

Took a while – but finally successful with our wifi! 👍🏻 Ah – the joys of technology. Then off to Buchanan to offload things at our hotel. The journey from Monrovia to Buchanan was long and beautiful! Yes – those are chickens on a table that they sell on the side of the busy road!!!

Checked into our hotel rooms and had to get things situated. Getting late – sadly too late to get to Flahn Town today – so we pray we make it by God’s grace tomorrow! Please pray with us on the vehicle 🙏🏼. Keep the healing prayers coming for Donna! She is really moving around better now and in less pain. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

After the decision not to go to Flahn Town today, we went to visit with Amos and Hawa and family – so nice to see them and relax under the shade of the coconut trees and the breeze by their house!

After a lovely visit, we went to a market for some supplies – then off to Mame’s house for a SPICY fish soup dinner (she forgot our “No Pepper Please” rule.) We managed, drank lots of water, and our sinuses are quite clear! The fish was delicious and the fresh pineapple was so sweet and juicy! The fellowship with her family was wonderful! We are so blessed!

Then, we found out it was Revival Night at Pastor Peter’s church (where we went last year for Sunday Worship). So we thank God for today, drove off into a beautiful Liberian sunset and went to church!

  • DAY 5: Friday, February 13 – Spend the day in Flahn Town – first day of VBS, the Gbueglay Lutheran Elementary School Anniversary Gala Celebration, and a Revival Service.

Today (Friday) was an AMAZING day!
It started with us making it to our VBS Breakdown spot number 1 from 2024 and seeing our old friends!
Then we made it over BOTH bridges and washed out spots if the Flahn Town Road with NO PROBLEMS and NO CAR TROUBLES!!!!!
God IS Good!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Our driver Santos did and AMAZING JOB!!! 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼🎉🎉🎉

We had a happy welcome at the school and started our VBS – In the Beginning – Genesis 1. We were blessed to bain an additional Mission Team Member from Buchanan!!! Pastor Peter Conway’s daughter wanted to join us! She was terrific with the kids! Thank you Faith!

And then – a slight change in schedule due to a funeral on Saturday – we had the 1 year Anniversary Celebration today instead of Saturday. But the kids are so excited to come back tomorrow for VBS with us!

We ended our amazing day with an incredible revival service focusing on GRACE followed by a tasty dinner of Potato Greens stew with fish, fresh juicy pineapple, fresh cut cucumber, and fried plantains. What a great day! Donna’s hip is much better. To God be all the glory!

  • DAY 6: Saturday, February 14 – Spend the last day in Flahn Town for another day of VBS, and then travel back to Monrovia

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today’s VBS was all about LOVE. John 3:16 and other verses about Love. The children sang “Jesus Loves You!”

Donna received her Bassa name, and the presentation of gifts and appreciation was celebrated.

It is always hard to say Goodbye!

  • DAY 7: Sunday, February 15 – Attend church service in Monrovia and get some rest

Blessings on your Sunday everyone! Wonderful worship in Thinkers’ Village this morning at Kingdom Ambassadors Ministries. Pastor Flahn gave a powerful message – “God Wants Your Worship” based on Genesis 22. 🙏🏼

Then back to the Mission House for Family and Friends Fellowship!

Our night ended with an extra special treat . . . Liberian Ice Cream!!! Yummy!!! 😋

  • DAY 8: Monday, February 16 – Visit the Destiny Addiction Recovery Center. Mission Team Lunch

Happy Monday 🌅
Beautiful sunrise piercing through the curtain of the bedroom window this morning! Thank you God for this new day! 🙏🏼
Pastor Flahn gave us all Pancake lessons and made pancakes for us for breakfast. 😋

After breakfast, devotions, & prayer time we had sit around and wait time – “TIA”. Waiting for Santos to come back with the truck from the shop getting the water pump fixed.👍🏼
So – we had time at the mission house to do wash, visit with Pastor Flahn’s brother Nathaniel, get my hair braided, Donna could relax and read, and our neighbor brought us Pepper Stew and Dumboy to try. It was quite yummy!!!!! 😋 (Hard to swallow properly, but I did it!)

Off to the Rocovery Center…
Uh – wait a minute…It is never a good thing when the hood is up!
Is Martha calling AAA?

Well, roadside assistance on the way and Pastor Jerry sent someone from Destiny Recovery Center to pick us up.
So we made it! 👍🏼
The message from Pastor Flahn, our song of Made For More, the prayers, & fellowship were powerful, well received, and inspirational. May God continue to give these people the strength they need to hold onto HIS HOPE in times that they need it most in their journey to recovery and never go back! 🙏🏼Amen!

After the Recovery Center, Pastor Jerry’s driver took us back to the Mission House because the truck wasn’t quite ready. God bless Santos our driver. He patiently waited on the road with the truck.
As we were driving home, it is typically snack time. All our snacks were in the truck – so I was thinking Plantain Chips from the roadside. And then…
I saw an Ice Cream Shop!!!!!! (Funny story from our first year…that is why my face is so excited!!!!!) Yum! 😋

Back home safely for a visit with the ladies of the Miss Africa Foundation, delicious Cassava Soup & Rice, devotions & prayer.

  • DAY 9: Tuesday, February 17 – Visit downtown Monrovia to visit local markets and cultural/ historical sights

Here are some pictures from the market we went to as well as the beach. Our last final thing.

  • DAY 10: Wednesday, February 18 – Pack bags and get some rest before departing Liberia to head home to the USA

Our last sun rise through our window. Always smoky & hazy – but we thank God for each new day! We pray God’s blessings in all we do and to all we meet this day! In Jesus’ Mighty Name! Amen!

Coffee and devotions. Prayer with a fellow missionary pastor visiting. Eggs and Oatmeal for breakfast. Sorting, inventory, and packing this morning.

Packing, inventory, & “checking” the truck to go to the airport this evening. 🙏🙏🙏
Lunch – Casava, plantain, fish & chicken stew for lunch, packing & Inventory party, Pastor George came to the rescue to take us to the airport! Good-=bye truck – family pictures & prayer and we’re off!!! God Bless Liberia 🇱🇷🙏
Bless you and keep you until we see one another again! 🙏❤️🤍💙🇱🇷
