November Sounds

Here is your November Sounds!

Do you ever wish you could go back to change something you said or did? (and not just the extra hour of sleep we got last night). Well, I am the type of person where sometimes I speak before thinking, and then spend the rest of the day wishing I would’ve said something else or just kept my mouth shut. Sometimes it’s just out of embarrassment for ourselves, but other times things we have said and done have led to hurt and pain, consequences that seem to linger for sometimes years. While we all have moments where we wish we could’ve changed what we said a little here, or done something a little different there, we usually all end on the classic answer when someone asks the question about going back… “No, because I wouldn’t be who I am today”

I do believe that through suffering, or experiencing the consequences of our own actions, we can grow – but that doesn’t stop me from still wishing I could hop in a time machine and go back to specific moments so I could change them. But here is the funny thing, even with a time machine, no matter how many times I travel back in time, I would still mess up. A previous pastor once shared these words on a Sunday, that I will share with you today…

“Our God is not a God of second chances, He is a God of a second Adam”

God gives us something so much better than a time machine or second chance, He gives us His son, Jesus. He doesn’t become the incarnate God, take on flesh and die, to say “try again”. He comes to say “it is finished”. No matter how many chances we get my friends, we will fall into the pit, but we rejoice that we have a God who will throw himself into the pit every time to save us.

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,” (Ephesians 1:7)

Ever in His Grace,
