Life & Family
Joshua Hileman was born June 17, 1985, in Auburn, WA. He received the gift of faith through the waters of baptism in June 1985 at Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn, WA. He grew up just south of Seattle in Auburn, where he attended St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Federal Way. He attended Central Washington University for one year, 2004, after graduating from Auburn High School in 2003. He worked various jobs until he married Christina in April 2006. They welcomed their first son, Bryten, in October 2006.
Josh joined the United States Marine Corps in March of 2007 and after almost a year in California was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. Josh went on two deployments. His first deployment was a part of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2008. His second deployment was to Afghanistan in 2009. Josh reenlisted into the Marine Corps while in Afghanistan. It was during this second deployment that Josh was injured in Sangin, Afghanistan when the vehicle he was operating was struck by an improvised explosive device. Josh had surgery on Camp Bastion and was medically evacuated from Afghanistan in August 2009. After multiple surgeries he was medically retired in 2012. Josh and Christina welcomed their second son, Emmitt, in March of 2012.
He began working as a civilian federal employee for NAVAIR Cherry Point, NC in 2012. He received his Bachelor’s degree in business from Campbell University in 2014. In September 2015, Josh and Christina were blessed with a third son, Caleb. The Hileman family moved to Saint Louis to attend Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in May of 2016. In November 2016 Josh and Christina welcomed their daughter Maisie into the family.
In 2015, Josh felt called to full-time ministry. In 2018, the Hileman family moved to Crystal Lake, IL where Josh spent the year on vicarage at Immanuel Lutheran Church Crystal Lake.
After a year of learning and growing in Crystal Lake, Josh and the Hileman family moved back to St. Louis in July 2019. On April 28, 2020, Josh received a call to serve as Associate Pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Laurel, MD. Josh completed the Master of Divinity program at Concordia Seminary Saint Louis in May 2020.
The Hileman family knows that God is actively using them to further His Kingdom and they will continue to serve Him in any way He calls them too. They are blessed to have the opportunity to faithfully serve and follow Christ and they look forward to seeing what God has in store for them as they serve the people of Our Savior and the community around them.
