A sermon based on John 17:20-26, Rev. J. Orlando Flahn
In this Sunday’s gospel reading, Jesus is about to return to heaven to be with the Father. He prays that His followers may be united, just as He and the Father are one. This emphasis on unity among those who would follow Him after His departure was a significant concern for Him. Why do you think unity is so important? How can each member of the local church actively work to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace? (Eph 4:3)
This morning we explore how our unity in Christ and with one another is achieved not through human effort but through the work of the Holy Spirit, who dwells in each of us and binds us together.
