A sermon based on Psalm 46:1-11, Rev. J. Orlando Flahn
Have you ever been disappointed by someone you trusted to support you during a difficult time? It can be a heartbreaking experience to have expectations and be let down by someone you believed in. Throughout life, we meet people who promise to be there for us or to protect us in challenging moments, but often they fail to keep their promise.
In this Sunday’s lesson, the Psalmist reminds us that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1). It’s not a matter of “if” a storm will arise, but “when,” because storms will come in life. Can we trust God to be our faithful shelter when chaos enters our lives? Are His promises reliable?
