How do you begin each day? Do you pick up your phone next to your bed and check it for text or email messages? Do you look for posts on Facebook or Instagram? Do you try to find out if your favorite team won a late-night game? Or do you open your Bible to read and meditate on a suggested word of God for the day?
Psalm 119 says, “Thy word is a lamp onto my feet, and a light onto my path.” The word of God is given to us to guide each and every step we take as we make our way through the day ahead. Those who begin the day in this way often speak of the difference that it makes for them all day long. How about you?
The text for today is 2 Timothy 3:14-4:5. The first half of it speaks of the important role that the word of God plays in the daily life of every one of us. The second half of this same text highlights the part it plays in the work of a pastor. As we are now closer to calling a new senior pastor, this text is indeed worthy of our consideration.
