A sermon based on Romans 3:19-28, Rev. J. Orlando Flahn
Welcome to Reformation Sunday! Once again, God calls us to renew our commitment to the fundamental tenets of our faith: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone, Christ alone, and To the Glory of God alone!
This Sunday’s reading from the Epistle focuses on Paul’s response to the question: “How does God accept us and offer forgiveness to those who have broken His Law?” Is it through obeying the Law?
Paul argues, not so; for by the deeds of the Law, no one can be saved (Rom 3:20). Instead, God declares the sinner who believes in Christ Jesus, righteous, and offers salvation apart from the Law and our own efforts or merits (Rom 3:21)
This message was good news over five hundred years ago during the Reformation, and it remains the same good news today!
