Have you been doing well in stewarding God’s gifts to you? I know we all struggle to be good managers of all God’s many blessings to us. But being a faithful steward starts from recognizing that we do not own anything. Everything you possess, including your own “life,” is a gift from God. From God’s perspective, a person who is a faithful steward would diligently seek first to steward his own life well, realizing it is given to him from above. To manage everything else the Lord has blessed you with begins with properly stewarding your own life, giving your life meaning and value, and realizing it is a gift from God. When you fail to steward your possessions properly, it may reflect how poorly you are stewarding your life. Biblical stewardship is to understand the importance of your life not being your own but being on loan from God. Before we know how to manage the resources God has given us faithfully, we must understand what life is all about and acknowledge it belongs to God.
